Artificial intelligence called ALPHA was developed by Psibernetix jointly with the US Air Force Research Laboratory. The program was specially created to surpass professional fighter pilots in a virtual duel.

One such rival ALPHA was in the past an experienced pilot, instructor, retired Air Force Colonel Jen Lee. Before coming together in battle with an unusual rival, the air ace did not doubt the victory. However, everything turned out exactly the opposite.

Lee could not make a single successful shot, because ALPHA did it faster and more accurately every time. Even “replacing” artificial intelligence with a less fast and maneuverable aircraft, the robot pilot defeated Lee, as, indeed, all the other pilots who volunteered to fight with the obstinate rival.

By the way, Colonel has been testing flight artificial intelligence since the 1980s. As Lee himself admits, earlier he easily won any robot pilot. Before the advent of ALPHA.

Intellect ALPHA repeated the success of its “namesake” – the program “Alpha Go”, which managed to beat the world champion in the game of Go. However, unlike the game version, where the supercomputer was involved , ALPHA operates on the basis of a standard PC.

While AI passes the stage of testing, but its creators are very hopeful that someday their offspring will adequately show themselves in real combat.
