Bacteria control the quality of gasoline

Scientists of the Kazan Federal University (KFU) have developed an original technology for controlling fuel quality with the help of the pigment of the cellular substance of Agreia family bacteria. Before that, we had to use foreign expensive chemical markers.

Their main drawback was that, getting into fuel, they changed its spectrum. According to Ilya Vasilyev, a CFU employee, the pigment of bacteria isolated by scientists fully meets the requirements for biomarkers. At the same time, the fuel composition remains unchanged, exhibits resistance to temperature changes and does not emit harmful substances when burning.

It is also important that natural markers decompose under the action of microorganisms, turning into harmless compounds. In addition, they are almost impossible to forge without knowing the appropriate technology.

Unique development has already interested the local company “Taif” and the Nigerian Addax Petroleum Plc. In turn, the Kazan scientists guaranteed to the customers the timely release of the required number of markers.
